Everything about the Stark's family tree is odd. They're 8000 years old and to date have basically only 5 remaining members. How is it there are more secret Targs than any legitimate Starks?
First, we’ll look at the Stark family history in Game of Thrones, their part in ending the Long Night thousands of years ago, and the possibility that their bloodline carries both White Walker and Children of the Forest DNA. No one has George R.R. Martin’s number in their phone, so a lot of the information in this list is patched together
There is no a single freak outsider in the Stark family tree, unlike there is with Lady Rohanne Webber in the Lannister family tree. The Starks only marry nobility, and the nobility they intermarry with they intermarry with more than once. Even such apparent outsiders like the Royces and Blackwoods show up more than once in the family tree.
Did anybody else notice the amount of inbreeding in the Stark Family Tree? I expected the Starks to be related to all of the North's major families, but they are probably the most inter-bred family, especially if you include the Karstarks, outside of the Targaryens. If R + L = J, Jon Snow is the most Stark and mostest Targaryen alive.

Giant wolves are also significant in Norse Mythology, and the Stark kids seem to have a penchant for shape-shifting and living in magical, psychic trees. 2 House Lannister: The Lion
