Random bulb warnings for rear lights on E46 Saloon. My E46 saloon is 5 years old and I have owned it 18 months, during which I have had several rear bulb warnings. I have cleaned contacts, cleaned plugs and sockets on light units, sprayed all contacts with contact spray only to find the warnings would The E46 headlight switch is mounted in the dashboard on the left side of the steering wheel. The switch fails over time and causes exterior lighting problems. The headlight switch is mounted to the lighting control module. When removed, they come out as a unit and can be separated and serviced individually. The headlight switch is not a big deal. Then gently pry the contacts toward the bulb base.
